NORTH SUMATRA

     North Sumatra is a province located on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia. The province is a multi-ethnic region that is inhabited by many tribes.There are 419 islands in the North Sumatra province. Outer islands is the island Simuk (Nias island), and Idols in the straits of Sumatra island (Malacca).
     Nias island consists of a main island and other small islands around it. Nias Island lies off the west coast in the Indian Ocean coast. Government center is located in Gunung Sitoli.


NORTH SUMATRA TOURISM REGIONS
           
BERASTAGI
     Berastagi is a major tourist destination in Tanah Karo is located at an altitude of about 4594 feet above sea level and surrounded by mountain ranges, has a cool air of the beautiful expanse of farm fields, broad, green.
     Berastagi is about 50-60 kilometers from the city of Medan. Berastagi flanked by two active volcanoes is Mt Sibayak and Sinabung. Near Mount Sibayak, there are hot springs baths.


BUKIT LAWANG
     Bukit Lawang is the name of the tourist attractions in Langkat, North Sumatra Province which is located 68 km northwest city of Binjai and about 80 miles northwest of the city of Medan. Bukit Lawang is included in the scope of the Gunung Leuser National Park which is an area of ​​orangutan conservation of introspection.
     Bukit Lawang is a tourist area which develops spontaneously. That is, the attraction and natural charm to attract visitors to come. The development of tourism here began with the founding of the first orangutan rehabilitation center in Sumatra in the early 1980s.




LAKE LAU KAWAR
     The lake is situated at the foot of Mount Sinabung Tanah Karo, about 50 km from the city of Medan. Compared with the broad lake reaches 1265 square kilometers, the area of ​​Lake Lau Kawar which only 200 hectares is not nothing. Lake Lau Kawar is the main gateway for mountain climbers to reach the top Sinabung located 2451 meters above sea level.



LAKE TOBA
     Lake Toba is a volcanic lake at 100km x 30km in North Sumatra, Sumatra, Indonesia. In the center there is a volcanic island called Samosir Island.
Lake Toba lies in the northern part of Barisan Mountain Range, which is volcanic and traverses Sumatra     Island from northwest to southeast as its backbone.
     The laketrough is surrounded by precipitous cliffs 400-1,200 m high. Based on the topographic feature and the wide distribution of volcanic ejecta around the lake, some geologists and valcanologists have considered it to be a giant caldera or cauldron.



GEDUNG TJONG A FIE
     This old building once described the cultural tenacity of ethnic Chinese since hundreds of years of settling in the Land of Deli. Old building located in Kesawan (Tapekongstraat) is owned by Tjong A Fie, a close friend of the Sultan of Deli.
     Tjong A Fie (1860–1921), or Tjong Yiauw Hian  was a Hakka Chinese businessman, banker and kapitan (Chinese major) who built a large plantation business in Sumatra, Indonesia.Tjong A Fie built his business that employed more than 10,000 labor workers. Because of his great success, he maintained a good relationship with the ruler of Deli, including Sultan Deli Makmun Al Rasjid and Dutch authorities. In 1911, Tjong A Fie was appointed as a Kapitan Cina (Majoor der Chineezen) or major of Chinese community in Medan, replaced his late brother, Tjong Yong Hian. As a Chinese community top leader, he was well-thought-of and respected by people, because he was linked with economy and political systems of the city. His enterprises were invested in his plantations, palm oil and sugar factories, bank and railroad.



GUNDALING HILL
     Gundaling hill with a height of 1575 M above sea level is 3 km from the town of Berastagi. To achieve this hill can be done by foot or using a sado. From the top of Gundaling Hill, one can get a panoramic view of Berastagi, although often the souvenir stalls on Gundaling Hill block the otherwise marvellous view.





MOUNT SINABUNG
     Sinabung is a mountain in the Highlands Karo, Karo District, North Sumatra, Indonesia. Sinabung together Sibayak nearby are two active volcanoes in North Sumatra. The height of this mountain is 2460 meters. The mountain is the highest peak in North Sumatra. This mountain has never been recorded erupted since 1600.Koordinat mountaintop Sinabung is 3 degrees 10 minutes North Latitude, 98 degrees 23 minutes east longitude.



HILL PARK

PALACE MAIMUN
     Maimoon palace was originally written, is the palace of Sultan Deli. The palace that stands on the road Brigjend Katamso is dominated yellow color, as well as the typical Melayu kingdom.


           
JANGGA DOLOK
     Jangga Dolok is a traditional Batak village located 24 km from Parapat. Here visitors can see traditional Batak ulos-making process among the traditional houses and historical monuments of the kings.




LINGGA VILLAGE
     Lingga village situated at an altitude of about 1200 m above sea level, approximately 15 km from Berastagi. Linga is a unique Batak Karo village, traditional houses have an estimated age of 250 years, but his condition is still sturdy.




TEMPLE SRI MARIAMAN
     This temple is located at Jalan KH. Zainul Arifin, Medan. In addition to having unique ornaments carvings and high artistic merit, this building also visualize that there are descendants of Indians living in Medan for a long time.




SPRING LAU DEBUK-DEBUK
Lau Debuk-Debuk is a village that has hot springs with sulfur content, much visited by tourists to enjoy the warm water of sulfur in the atmosphere cool mountain air. The village is situated about 10 km from Berastagi to the New Airport, at the foot of the mountain Sibayak.

MESJID RAYA AL-MASHUN
     One more thing, the Sultan of Deli, namely Masjid Raya Al Mashun which is not far from the Palace Maimun (200 m). According to sources, the mosque was built on 1 Rajab 1324H or August 21, 1906 and completed 10 Sept 1909 by Ma'mun Al Rashid Perkasa Alam. Some decorations are made from Italy and Germany and supposedly used to be a part of the palace complex. The mosque, designed by Dingemans from Amsterdam (with a symmetrical shape when viewed from all four sides) has a style taken from the culture of the Middle East, India, and Spain. The mosque was built by the terms of the form 8 (octagonal) and has 4 wings on each part of the south east and west north-shaped main building, but smaller. Area of ​​the entire building is 5,000 meters.



MUSEUM SUMATRA UTARA
     Museum of North Sumatra (North Sumatra) is located on the road Joni No. HM. 51 Medan, North Sumatra Province, Indonesia.
